A Quote That Brings Me a Sense of Ease

Every Second Counts.

Who are you? Oftentimes, when I ask someone, “Who are you?” they respond by saying something along the lines of “I’m a lawyer.” Or some sort of answer that has to do with their job, and I often ask, “That’s wonderful! But who are you?” And they usually look puzzled.

Then I ask, "And what’s your story?" And I get an even more puzzling look. I think that one of the most significant problems that needs to be overcome is that a majority of us do not know who we are, and don’t know what our story is. And for those of us who do, it is often rare that we can honestly say, “I love myself and my story.”

What I adore about “Love Your Story” is that in our very name, we are inviting people into a beautiful, complex challenge for those who dare to love their story. Honestly, not all of us love who we are or the stories that we were given. And usually it’s because of the wounds we’ve picked up along the way of living out our story that shapes the lenses through which we view life and ourselves. But there is hope. We can’t control where we come from, but we have some control over where we go.

Just like any other story, every story has a beginning, a middle, and an end. And this is the beginning of a brand new chapter for you. This could be the beginning of how you learn how to love yourself and your story. In the past two years of seeing clients, I have accompanied young adults, adolescents, and several other individuals in the sacred places of their hearts and stories. And they’ve been filled with wounds, trauma, anxiety, depression, fear, hopelessness, the list goes on! It’s been an honor journeying alongside people with their brokenness, because there is beauty in the breaking.

When I journey alongside clients, I view people through the lenses of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Attachment, and Narrative Therapy. This is what you can expect from the first few sessions. First, we will spend the first two sessions getting to know one another through a comprehensive psychosocial assessment, so that I can begin to peek into who you are and what your story is. By the third session, I ideally will have collaborated on a treatment plan so that we have a practical goal to reach, then the journey towards healing truly begins.

You matter. And your story matters. It can be very daunting to allow someone into the depths of your heart and your story. However, it is not good for man to be alone. You are worth it, and wherever you are in your story, I am confident that you are reading this because you want to believe that you and your story matter. It’s time.
